Terms of service

DRAFT: not yet reviewed by a solicitor. Last updated 2 November 2026.

1. Who we are

Securemark.dev is provided by Louis Wright, a sole trader in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). Contact: hello@louiswright.co.uk. By creating an account or embedding a Securemark badge you agree to these terms.

2. The service

Securemark scans websites and code repositories, scores the results using the published methodology, and serves badges and reports. Badges reflect the latest stored measurement at the time shown. They are not a security audit, certification or guarantee.

3. Your account

You must be at least 18 or have permission from a parent or guardian, give accurate details, and keep your credentials secure. You're responsible for activity on your account.

4. Acceptable use

  • Only add domains and repositories you own or are authorised to monitor. Active scans require verified ownership.
  • Don't use badges to mislead (for example, by editing or recreating badge images), and don't misrepresent results.
  • Don't abuse the API, circumvent rate limits or plan limits, or attempt to attack the service.

We may suspend accounts or stop scanning subjects that breach these rules.

5. Plans, billing and cancellation

Paid plans are billed in advance in GBP through Stripe, monthly or annually, and renew automatically until cancelled. Pro is charged per project. Quantity changes are prorated. You can cancel any time in the Customer Portal and keep access until the end of the paid period. If you're a consumer in the UK, you have a 14-day right to cancel. By starting the service immediately you agree that we may deduct the value of the service already provided. Prices include VAT where applicable. We'll give at least 30 days' notice of price changes.

6. Free plan

The free plan is provided as-is and may change. We'll give reasonable notice of material reductions.

7. Your content and data

You keep ownership of your data. You grant us the rights needed to run the service, including publicly displaying badges for subjects you add. See the privacy policy.

8. Availability

We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted service. Badges may show stale, pending or error states.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Otherwise, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions made in reliance on badges. Our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the greater of £100 and the fees you paid us in that period. If you're a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

10. Ending the service

You can delete your account at any time. We may end the service with 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid unused period.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their local courts.
